As the Aurora descended through the atmosphere of Planet B, life pods were launched as an emergency protocol. The only capsule left intact in Subnautica was life pod 5. This is, of course, the life pod that carried the game's protagonist Ryley to the surface. In the playable zones, there are nine other destroyed life pods that players can scavenge for valuable resources. Gamers who would like to find each of these locations as efficiently as possible can follow the instructions and coordinates in this guide, assisted by map of the area. Hopefully, knowing where to go can help reduce players' chances of being killed by hostile creatures. Rather than go in depth about how to get to each location, this guide will provide coordinates, as well as the map above to make spotting them easier.

Build in deep water means you need lots of water beneath you ie not the shallows , not you need to build on the seafloor. The mobile assembly pad is meant to be deployed on the surface, there just needs to be enough water beneath you so that whatever you build Cyclops, launch pad etc doesn't beach itself when complete.

During the intro sequence the player, following the automated evacuation warning, Ryley Robinson climbs inside the Lifepod to escape the impending crash of the Aurora, apparently being the only one to reach Lifepod 5. After launching, he witnesses an explosion from the ship through the top hatch window, causing a shockwave to strike the Lifepod. A panel flies off the opposite wall along with the Fire Extinguisher , exposing wires and knocked about in freefall until slamming into the player's face, knocking him out. The player wakes up three hours later to warning alarms and quickly notices that the Lifepod is on fire, and puts it out with the Fire Extinguisher, fortunately now laying nearby on the floor. The Lifepod then becomes the player's starting location.

Lifepod 7 is, by far, the most difficult lifepod to find. The Lifepod 7 Transmission Origin databank entry mentions that it is located about meters SW of the aurora. To help visualize the location of Lifepod 7, as well as the nearby Ghost Leviathan, I turned off the Water Volume effect in the F3 menu. Note how the lifepod is situated between two hazardous areas. But also, beyond the lifepod is a Ghost Leviathan. Lifepod 7 sits among a swirl of leaning rock protrusions that characterize this area. If you see rocks like this you are likely not far from it.
