Scar was the formerly younger brother of Mufasathe uncle of Simbagranduncle of Kiara and Kion, and the brother-in-law of Sarabi.

Scar is the younger brother of Mufasa, the paternal uncle of Simba and the paternal great-uncle of Kiara, Kion and Nguruma. Scar is an antagonist who is mentioned in Legends of the Lion Guard. Scar has dusty orange fur, while his muzzle, paws, and underbelly are all tan color. His mane is thinner and sleeker than those of the other males, colored a coal black that appears dark brown in the sunlight, with the fur on his elbow joints and the tuft of his tail matching the black of his mane. His chin fur is scruffier and pointed down in a distinctive goatee, while his eyebrows are black and considerably thick. Unlike most lions in his pride, Scar possesses dark scarlet eye shades, an angular nose, and neon-green eyes.

The Lion Guard is a sequel and spin-off to The Lion King , and takes place during the time-gap within Disney's direct-to-video sequel The Lion King II: Simba's Pride , [4] while the third and final season takes place in parallel with the film's second act, with the final two episodes serving as an epilogue. The second season premiered on July 7, , followed by the third on August 3, , [5] with the series finale airing on November 3 the same year. The show centers on Kion , Simba and Nala 's son and Kiara 's younger brother, who as second-born to the throne has been gifted with a power called the Roar of the Elders and becomes the leader of the Lion Guard, a team who protects the Pride Lands and defends the Circle of Life. Despite the tradition that the Lion Guard has always been made of lions, Kion appoints his friends Bunga the honey badger, Beshte the hippopotamus, Fuli the cheetah, and Ono the egret, and together, they set out to keep their homeland safe and protect it from animals who disrespect the Circle of Life. Starting in season two, the Lion Guard's mission becomes harder when Scar returns as a fiery spirit and plans to destroy the Pride Lands, while forming an army consisting of animals from the Outlands. This eventually leads to all-out war between the Pridelanders and the Outlanders. Kion's team also gets a new member, a martial eagle named Anga who replaces Ono's position as the keenest of sight after Ono temporarily loses his eyesight, while he gains a new position as the smartest.

When he was the leader of the Lion Guard and had the Roar of the Elders , Scar met a rouge lion from the Outlands who convinced him to turn against Mufasa so they could both take over the Pride Lands. However, during their conversation, Scar was bitten by a Strange Cobra and left with an injury to his eye. Angered, Scar betrayed the rouge lion and killed him and the cobra with the Roar of the Elders, returning to Mufasa's side. After Mufasa mocked his injury, giving him the nickname "Scar" rather than praising him, an outraged Scar plotted to overthrow him, only to murder his Lion Guard in a blind rage, and lose both his position and power after using the latter for evil. Years later when he and his brother are adults, his nephew Simba was born and stripped him of his position as Mufasa's current heir in the process. This was the final straw for Scar, who then allied with the hyenas , one of the Pride Lands's worst enemies from the Elephant Graveyard. He killed his own brother and exiled Simba from the Pride Lands before becoming King. Years into his tyrannical reign as King, a young adult Simba returned to Pride Rock, challenged, battled , and defeated Scar, avenging Mufasa's death, whilst Scar became a ghost. Later, Simba calls an end to Scar once and for all, and Scar appears in flames at Pride Rock warning him his plot will never work.
