He added nineteen other Great Rings, also conferring powers such as invisibility, that it could control, including the Three Rings of the Elves , Seven Rings for the Dwarves , and Nine for Men. He stated that there were in addition many lesser rings with minor powers. Proposed sources of inspiration for the Rings of Power range from Germanic legend with the ring Andvaranaut and eventually Wagner 's Der Ring des Nibelungen , to fairy tales such as Snow White , which features both a magic ring and seven dwarfs.

There are actually many Rings of Power in the Lord of the Rings series. Though much of the story is focused on the quest to destroy the One Ring, there are other Rings that other beings possess. Seven were given to the Dwarves. And the Elves possess three.
