We are a 20s mad walkers 30s hiking group of the Ramblers Association for people who live in and around the Greater Manchester area.

Please make sure you read our Scrambling Guide before attending, and if you have any queries then contact the walk leader. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting. Walk ends at. This walk has no limit on the number of people who can attend. While you are able to turn up on the day, the walk leader will still ask you use this booking form to sign up at the walk start.

New members are always welcome! We have a varied itinerary of day walks at weekends and also evening weekday walks during summer months. We use both car and public transport to access the many excellent walking areas around Manchester and beyond. See our walks calendar for all walk details. Our Walks page lets you know all the information you need for a particular walk, from the length, grade and approximate duration, as well as our meet-up points. We recommend that you wear a good pair of walking boots, and preferably no jeans. You can read more about being prepared on our Before Walking page. Our weekends away are also very popular as they give our members a cost-effective and social way to explore other areas of the country not so easily accessible with a day trip. These are a great opportunity to meet both existing and other new members. Fancy joining us but not sure where to start? MAD Walkers welcomes prospective new members and you can try as many as three walks or socials before joining the group through the Ramblers. We've been around since and now have over members, so are able to offer a variety of walks to suit you and many other like-minded people - whatever your level of fitness! You can pay by card or set up a direct debit. Entry will be from 2pm, with proceedings starting at 3pm. More info can be found on the agm page.

Mad walkers

Walks for everyone, including people with conventional wheelchairs and pushchairs, using easy access paths. Comfortable shoes or trainers can be worn. Assistance may be needed to push wheelchairs on some sections: please enquire with the walk leader beforehand. Walks for anyone who does not have a mobility difficulty or a specific health problem or is seriously unfit. Suitable for pushchairs if they can be lifted over occasional obstructions e. Comfortable shoes or trainers can be worn and will be fine if it doesn't rain. If, however, rain is forecast or sections of the route are muddy usually mentioned in the route description , boots will be far more comfortable and waterproof!
