The past weeks have been sad to watch. Max is dreary. More than once, Max has mentioned the toll that social media and especially streaming has on people, on him. So when, several months ago, I got the opportunity to contribute and be part of the team behind an unusual fringe content creator, with a unique vision of the world who's starting to annoy the pearl clutchers, I was ecstatic. Max took me on as his first YouTube mod when he vaguely recognized my username from his Twitter. Critics are quickly torn apart, berated and ostracized, often culminating in the dismissal of the dissenter by disparaging their intelligence as remedial or by suggesting they lack the capability to think, let alone comprehend the type of high-level ideas Max is dealing with, or the doubter will be designated them as DGG flavoured KoolAid junkies. I was flabbergasted to hear a mod go on a panel and lie about how Chat, Reddit and Discord are moderated as Max wants it, in tune with his position on free speech. And to be honest, I moved past the phase of my life when I used to stick movie or rock star posters on my bedroom walls.
