Group Since Apr 20, Save Cancel Drag to set position! Overview Discussions Photos Members Map. I have been doing a little reading up and taking an interest in capturing star photos, not pro deep sky stuff, but landscape included or decent moon photos. There is a lot of info out there on stacking referring to moon shot to gain clarity and detail.

There's also a separate Multi-frame Noise Reduction option which combines several frames to average out noise. See for yourself how the four noise reduction settings work under daylight-balanced lighting. Click on any of the crops below to see the corresponding full-sized image. Sony says noise reduction is not applied to RAW files. Clearly, the Off setting is not really off, as is often the case. It's also interesting that the Off setting smears our red leaf cloth much more than the Low and Normal settings, though chroma and luminance noise is higher. The Low setting leaves a little more luminance noise than the Normal setting. Overall, the Normal setting provides a pretty good balance between noise and detail, but you'll want to shoot in RAW mode for maximum control over the noise versus detail trade-off. It produces the cleanest images, however detail is a little soft even at low ISOs. Buy the Sony RX1. Fujifilm X-T3 Review. Top Sony Cameras Sony A Sony A Sony A7 II.
We're just multi frame nr from nights on the HAL Zuiderdam's Viking Passage, and I decided to try out the MFNR feature on my a one night from our balcony when the full moon was playing peekaboo behind the ship. It is a discussion and not a debate, just exchanging viewpoints, multi frame nr, observations and thoughts. I can say however I've had several PM's from other members commiserating with me.
M ulti-frame noise reduction helps to reduce picture noise by building up exposure and allow larger ISO numbers to be selected than the normal maximum ISO sensitivity. When shooting with high ISO sensitivity, the product reduces noise that becomes more noticeable when the product sensitivity is high. A message may be displayed during noise reduction processing; you cannot shoot another image until the message disappears. In the A mode you have control of the lens aperture and can influence depth of field DOF. Just remember that the camera will choose a faster or slower shutter speed depending on your selected aperture. The S mode gives you the control to freeze or blur action depending on the shutter speed you select.
Besides the advanced customizable autofocus functions find the guide here , The Sony A77 II has some more hidden features and functions that you might want to familiarize yourself with. This modes uses a fixed fast aperture camera does not change the aperture during shooting and allows you to shoot images continuously at high speed. This way, you can switch from wide mode to the center your subject and follow technique during shooting. A very powerful feature. Make sure you set the mode dial front lower left dial to C Cont. Back on topic I was not able to find any advantages of the MFNR photos noise reduction set to "normal" compared with the "normal" photos in this not optimal test series, rather the opposite. I'm frankly just tired that so many of his interactions end in this same manor. If I get banned for what I have written perhaps it would help me to never come back. For those that prefer not to use it, it can be ignored. Test Photos Tripod All photos are cropped to x pixels, but display all the pixels of the moon, thus, they are not scaled when viewed on a retina screen. In what circumstances would you select a specific ISO when using the MFNR feature and what factors would you use in setting that number , and in what circumstances would you not select a specific ISO but instead choose "high" or "standard" and what would be the factors in deciding between those two choices? I understand about "seeing" conditions which as I understand is the reason for stacking in order to help with those variations caused by shooting thu a thick atmosphere. Even if objects are not completely stationary it's worth a shot. RAW doesn't guarantee any better images, just gives you more leeway to adjust if you mess up. When those unfortunate patients get back at him he forms a coterie who intimidate, obfuscate and try to brow beat the patients and when those don't work they go crying to admins in private to ban the patients!! I will attempt to defend myself one more time though I really feel it's a waste of time because you've already made up your mind about me All that matters is the final product, and either can produce good results.
Sensitivity to light is expressed by the ISO number recommended exposure index.
Blackriver from time to time comes up interesting threads, during his experimentations which have added interest to the group. WaltKnapp 12 years ago. I will try to be more careful with my words when addressing those here that I'm already on shaky ground with. But lets just face facts However, the pretentiousnesses in this thread, from you, is astounding. I don't really buy your many of you points, like sharpening and noise control for example. I'm not forcing anyone to read my threads. Thus my statement, why try to twist it to suit your position. That's an interesting idea. Below is a shot of the moon from my a and beercan.
