The anime is directed by Makoto Moriwaki High School! They make their escape with the Melody Key and the Melody Bow, but in their haste forget the instruction manuals. They flee to the human world, and shortly after arriving, Kuromi discovers the power of the Melody Key, which makes wishes come true using the power of darkness. If the person who wishes enjoys the nightmare, he or she will produce Black Notes, which Baku promptly eats to store them. What neither one of them realize is that when Black Notes are gathered, the Spirit of Dark Power will be revived to destroy the human world and devour all the humans' dreams.

This is the list of characters appearing in the Onegai My Melody anime series. The human protagonist of the series. Born on November 19, Uta becomes My Melody's first human friend. She is the first person to fall victim to Kuromi's Melody Key. She has an older sister called Kanade who is a beautiful and popular student in senior high school and a younger sister Koto, who is a very happy girl. Uta is also very cheerful and energetic; and well known for her honey brown curled pigtails and big hazel eyes. She has a crush on Keichii.

Although she may look tough and punk, she is actually very girly and is attracted to good-looking guys! Kuromi enjoys writing in her diary and is hooked on romantic short stories. Her favorite colors are black and hot pink. Her favorite food is shallots, all kinds of meat, and in recent Kuromi merchandise cherries have been shown. Despite her villainous nature, Kuromi is mostly into food and even cooks. You might call her a rowdy free spirit.
