Their Curry dishes, on the other hand, are presented with a side of steamed rice. Among their revered dishes, the Pad Ped stands as a prominent choice. This dish harmoniously blends bell peppers, green beans, onions, bamboo shoots, and fresh basil, all stir-fried with a spicy red curry paste and served with a side of steamed rice. Try their captivating creation featuring Lao-style spicy pork sausages seasoned with a medley of exotic herbs and spices. This exquisite ensemble is accompanied by sticky rice and their signature chilli dip, offering a burst of flavours that embody the essence of their culinary expertise. Beautiful presentation, balanced flavors and excellent portions! Laotian food here is nothing short of amazing! The service here is friendly and warm and keeps us coming back. But here - be adventurous, up your spice level and try everything on the menu! Have visited here twice this month because the food is THAT good. Came in for lunch and we had a fabulous visit! This is my second time at Naka and I highly recommend it.

Of course, it included food experiences that still trigger extreme drooling and daydreams. Top of the list was a Christmas Eve dinner at a lodge at Pak Beng before a two-day boat trip up the Mekong to Luang Prabang riotous, thanks to a crazy Italian professional clown on board who did not have a stop button. Village girls in traditional garb danced for us; village elders performed a bonding ceremony baci with dried flowers, chicken bones, feathers, sticks, and trinkets in a centrepiece. Then we sat down for five courses of traditional Lao food. I was blown away by the food stalls at the night market in Luang Prabang — a mind-boggling array, but I loved the stalls with grilled whole fish and meats, clamped between bamboo sticks. So delicious. I nearly sent my neighbours to their death in Luang Prabang when they visited a year ago, recommending the grilled foods at an outdoor restaurant in a bamboo grove.
