New londo ruins

If I go to Ghost town I get mobbed and am just not getting far, new londo ruins. Where am I going wrong? Or should I head into the catacombs next before I do Ghost town?

The flooded ruins of this city of the tainted are located directly under Firelink Shrine and they're plagued by cursed beings that require a special weapon or a transient curse in order to hit them. There is no bonfire in the area and it serves as the gateway to The Abyss , once you lower the water level. Upper New Londo Ruins can be accessed immediately upon your arrival at the Firelink Shrine but it's advised to wait until you need to kill its boss before you venture in too far. If your Intelligence is anywhere in the 20s, a few Great Heavy Soul Arrows will take down a Wyvern before it can do too much damage. These beasts also give a ton of souls, making this spot a great place to farm for souls. Destroy a few, head back up the elevator to the bonfire, then do it all over again. If you're finding the dragons too much to deal with, you can also run past them and just avoid the encounter altogether.
