MO2 was initially started by Tannin, the creator of the original Mod Organizer, to take care of bit games such as Fallout 4. It is now actively maintained by a team of developers, from all backgrounds, and is now able to do much more than Tannin ever envisioned. The installer version is usually preferred for ease of installation. The installer can still be used to create a portable installation of MO2. Starting out with MO2 can be a bit intimidating. Several things about the tool may be unintuitive. There are some hidden features that affect how you mod your games.
Despite being a game full of chunky, blank-faced weirdos with awful hair that makes you swing at an enemy 20 times before you can land a single hit, Morrowind is an incredibly immersive game, sucking you into Vvardenfel and making you feel like part of its world. Modder abot over on the Morrowind Nexus has now, finally, torn down that last barrier between Morrowind and a perfect simulation of reality: with abot's new mod , the Nerevarine leaves behind footprints as they walk. And really, obsessive detail like this absolutely fits in a game that actively drains your stamina while you slowly jog around its alien moonscapes. I also love how abot got this mod to work. They utilize the Morrowind Script Extender to detect that whenever that distinctive clop clop clop sound effect of a Morrowind character's footsteps plays, and spawns in the footprint texture accordingly.

I was aware of the OpenMW project since a couple years prior and decided to implement it myself. For a while I was hardly a member of the project, just working on my VR fork occasionally asking questions in the Discord. Dehardcoding combat.
