There is an urgent need for housing in Niagara. Twelve units will be replaced with 73 units in two new apartment buildings: A three-storey apartment building with 55 units at Hawkins St. A three-storey apartment building with 18 units at Heximer Ave. These units will be located across the road from Prince Charles Park, be close to a minor commercial district and have access to public transit. These features make this spot an ideal location for development. This development supports: Niagara Region's year Housing and Homelessness Action Plan goal to help people find and keep housing Regional Council's focus on Niagara as a 'healthy community that supports a safe, healthy, diverse, culturally rich community where people of all ages and incomes enjoy a high quality of life' Niagara Regional Housing's vision statement: 'Niagara is a community where everyone has a home' Niagara Regional Housing's mission statement: 'To provide and develop quality affordable housing opportunities for individuals and families while promoting self-sufficiency and neighbourhood'.
