FCA says investigation continues into sexual misconduct claims against fund founder and political donor Crispin Odey. Odey denies the allegations. In October, the fund said it was shutting down. Earlier this month, the investment group, founded by the multimillionaire Conservative party donor 32 years ago, said its wealth management arm would be wound down. In June, the Financial Times reported that 13 women had accused Odey of abuse or harassment over decades. Odey has denied misconduct. OAM ousted Odey, and removed his name from the business , in the hope that this would stem unrest among investors and financial partners. However, it later announced it would be broken up as investors started to withdraw their funds.

It will come as a further blow to Crispin Odey, who established the Mayfair-based firm in but was ousted from it last weekend in response to the allegations about his behaviour. The year-old strenuously denies the claims. A prominent financier known for making contrarian bets, Crispin Odey is also known in political circles for being a key Brexit supporter. The decision to break up the firm caps a tumultuous week for both it and its founder, who remained a central figure at his eponymous hedge fund after being acquitted from a trial on a charge of indecent assault. The outgoing custodian must find a substitute to take over its role, but market sources said this would probably be challenging against the backdrop of financial institutions severing ties with the crisis-hit group. It did not provide further detail on which funds. A person familiar with the process said regulators were being kept fully informed.
