Cage is barely in it, weird or otherwise. He appears in a brief pre-title sequence, and then vanishes for a full hour before finally rejoining the story for a few gonzo line readings. If that wasn't bad enough, the main star in his place is Hayden Christensen, whose choices are so pedestrian we may as well rename him The Anticage. How appropriately titled for a film with an average 1. It always nice when a movie doesn't suck as hard as you thought it would. Granted this is pretty bad but I still found some enjoyment in Nicholas Cage's mega acting, the unique crusader PTSD mixed with Chinese political adventure plot, and the overall schlockiness of the film. Hayden Christensen is still about as charismatic as a bag of sand but the Asian cast is mostly solid and Nicolas Cage is brilliantly hammy.

The film was slated for release on September 26, , in China, but was postponed to April 3, Gallain pleads with Jacob to leave the people alone, claiming killing them is not God's will, and go East. Gallain witnesses Jacob become increasingly violent and leaves. Shortly thereafter, their sadistic older brother, Prince Shing, murders the King in a fit of rage after having been passed over as heir. Shing assumes command of the Emperor's Black Guard, ordering the deaths of his siblings in order to obtain the seal and the legitimacy of the throne.
