So when PING engineers sat down to improve upon one of the best drivers on the market, the G30, they looked to nature. The engineers who worked on PING G driver looked to nature to inspire and improve their design; in fact, they looked to the wings of a dragonfly. For decades, Ping earned and built its reputation in golf as a premier producer of irons and putters. As a boy, my first real set of clubs were Ping Zing 2 irons. I remember how much I loved those clubs. No one who consistently shot in the high 90s had a better set of clubs than me! In , the golf club manufacturing titan unleashed the G series of drivers, aiming to build clubs that could help recreational golfers and please the expert player. The Ping G driver is the sixth edition in this series, and a fine example of how the company continues raising the bar which it has set. Ping has always been a bold innovator in the marketplace, unafraid to take chances and produce a club that can help the average golfer improve his or her game. For starters, it has a titanium crown which is only 0. The previous perception is the minimum was 0. Shaving the thickness created eight grams of weight which could be used to reconfigure the shape of the head.

The weight saving from the crown, the lighter Titanium chassis and the various fins mean that the footprint of the head can be a little larger overall and a little more rounded than the G

The Ping G driver takes what G30 offered and improves upon it. Many will experience some sort of increase in clubhead speed and combined with the extra forgiveness, should start to hit longer and straighter drives. Many will also find a lower loft than usual creates the best results but you will only be sure if you have a custom fitting session. Has one of the biggest footprints of any driver, but the matte black keeps it looking slick. With the G25, that new wrinkle is adjustability. Just as with the Anser driver, you can add or subtract 0. The matte black crown, a look that PING basically owns, is awesome. It kills all the glare and it looks mean. The sound tends towards more of a metallic crack, which is typical of most drivers today.

While this all creates a fairly busy crown, the features are easy ignore because they are a uniform matte black. In general, the G driver will look very familiar to those that played the G The combination of large size and expertly-crafted shape will allow the G driver to appeal to players at all levels. The heel and toe on the bottom are accented in blue and are a sort of a well with steps inside the well. Still able to hit a draw with it, just doesn't turn into a 20 yard hook into the rough. The feel of the G30 is very hot, but similar to past G series driver with a slight more hollow feeling than the I series. The sleek, inviting head gives golfers the confidence to swing away without worrying about hitting the shots slightly off-center. The G driver was inspired by dragonflies and wheelers. This driver certainly surprised me in that department. As I'm a stats 'nut' I have a really good idea of my yardages and compared to the the Ping is easily 20 yds. After maximizing all the shaft head combo's the Ping G came away the clear winner. However what is really noticeable is the dispersion. The confidence I have with the club and the feel is so great such that I'd say it's the best club in my bag bar my putter. You can hit it anywhere on the face and get long drives that find the fairway. I think the engineering team at PING has successfully created an excellent successor to the G30 driver. Just bought the G! For decades, Ping earned and built its reputation in golf as a premier producer of irons and putters.

I did noticed I moved the ball one Turbulator towards the toe and I then hit the ball dead center more often. Any time that you can give a club designer the capability to move weight around, they are able to improve the weight distribution and move the Center of Gravity to improve or at the very least affect certain things. Matt- I recently went through a full bag fitting at Club Champion. I ordered a G with Pings Tour 65 X flex. You are now an official member of IGR. Joel has worked in the golf industry for over 12 years covering both instruction and more recently equipment. Traded in my R for the G. Arizona, USA. It is hands down the best driver I've ever hit. The G LS-Tec is a monster.
