How reliable are Planet X bikes? November edited December in Road buying advice. I've been searching for bikes and Planet X seem to be one of the cheapest out there! But I've recently heard some stories from fellow cyclists about the bikes breaking very easily like fork cracking after running over a pothole. Are these story's believable? If someone who's had a Planet X bike for a while could answer this, it would be really helpful! November

It isn't an Italian famous name, but they will perform just as well as a far more expensive bike.

At the time, Planet X said that all 33 of its jobs had been secured. To take the medium-sized frame as an example, you get a mm seat tube centre of bottom bracket to top , a mm top tube, and a mm head tube. That suggests a pretty aggressive ride position. Although the chainstays are short at mm, you get space for 32mm tyres. As is increasingly the way with road bikes across the price spectrum, the brake hoses run internally there are no cables because all ECs are built up with wireless or semi-wireless electronic groupsets from Shimano and SRAM. Two-part headset spacers make for simple front-end height adjustment.

The idea behind this wide stance is that air passes more smoothly between spinning wheel and fork leg, reducing drag. The sturdy down tube morphs from wide and flat at the head tube into a box section at the bottom bracket, while the seat tube has a D-shaped profile with a flat back to allow for a little flex. Super-skinny dropped stays also offer some flex, while square chainstays provide stiffness.
