A VA monitor stands for vertical alignment. It is a type of monitor panel that is generally regarded as the middle ground between TN and IPS panels. They are better than TN panels in the regards that they offer improved color reproduction, greater brightness settings, and more angular viewing points. Although VA panels have very good contrast ratios they lack in response times which means fast-moving objects are displayed in a blurry manner and therefore not ideal for the buyer who wants to use this monitor for gaming. Acer does state that this monitor has a rapid 4 millisecond response time which reduces deviations in fast moving pictures but I have seen monitors with response times as low as 1 millisecond so while you could game with this monitor, it will not give you any superior playing edge over your competitors.
