Viewing of used off-paper stamps may not be reliable due to their soaking in water. The hand-mixed and hand-applied gum of the different printings varies greatly in appearance, thickness, and how it air-dried as the sheets were laid out to dry; this example has thick, fairly smooth, naturally yellowish gum with thicker areas. All are attractive and without defects these are NOT seconds! This issue is scarce with such nice perforations. Certainly scarcer than 1 in examples. There are actually not that many denominations in this series. Much nicer looking than usually seen for this stamp. Very fresh, with almost perfect centering, and with excellent perforations. Treskilling Yellow appears on the market rarely, but when it is auctioned, it always fetches incredible sums. Clear KPV watermark. A remarkably nice example of the original stamp NOT a reprint : original gum is quite scarce; such nice centering is very unusual; and such nice color and perforations are unusual; and examples without faults or repairs are very unusual, especially in mint condition. Especially nice with such a light cancellation. This example is probably one in ,!!

An unusual example! Very fresh and bright. Actually these three rates started 1 January and ran through 28 February , but the fluorescent stamp was apparently not printed or put into use until mid-late , thus the period of use for it was only a FEW MONTHS. The central value shown as a numeral and the outer part of the stamp with the value in words would have been entered onto the plate using two separate dies, which became mixed up. Ink caught in the plate joints printed as a colored line and provide what we now call line pairs. The Dark Blue printings are generally much scarcer and seem to be especially scarce in NH condition.
