James Arnold Taylor and David Kaye reprise their roles as the titular characters alongside Jim Ward and Armin Shimerman as their respective characters. The film features an original story, loosely based on the video game with additional elements from the sequels , written by Munroe, Gerry Swallow, and former Insomniac senior writer T. Alongside several cast members from the games, Insomniac contributed to the film's production with character development, screenplay, and animation assets. In the Solana Galaxy, Chairman Drek and his people, the Blarg, are systemically dismantling multiple planets to extract desirable material for the construction of an artificial planet, New Quartu. The Blarg need this new world as their home, Quartu, has been rendered uninhabitable by pollution. The destruction attracts the attention of the peacekeeping Galactic Rangers.

Sign In. Hide Spoilers. From the beginning to the end, the film kept me on the edge of my seat, as it is an adventurous, funny, heartwarming and witty story. One of the funniest scenes is when Dr. Nefarious shoots Chairman Drek with a laser gun and turns him into a sheep. The story follows the main character, Ratchet who wants to be a member of the famously respected Galactic Rangers team but unfortunately, is told he doesn't have the right "stuff. However, Ratchet meets and names a robot Clank who is similarly small and both human and robot not only become the best of friends but a powerful duo. Together they make it their mission to try to save the Solana Galaxy from the evil Chairman Drek. My favorite part of the story is when we learn the robot doesn't measure up to his own kind. In fact, he is considered a "defect" to be terminated because he's small, thinks for himself and doesn't want to hurt humans but wants to help them. I particularly enjoyed all the various voices talent for the animated characters.

Ratchet gets the opportunity to prove himself when he meets up with an undersized but sentient factory-rejected robot whom he calls Clank David Kaye. The humor and the action are clearly aimed at the younger viewers, much of it seemed overly silly to me. Nefarious, and he uses it during the final fight with Ratchet. Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal : Part of the reason Nefarious turned to evil was because when he worked for the Galactic Rangers as their tactical support and weapons engineer, Captain Qwark treated him poorly by making him deal with poor working conditions, budget cuts, inadequate facilities, and then stole credit for his inventions and openly insulted him as a complete nerd though Qwark claimed it was a term of endearment , gradually driving him insane to the point where he became a mad scientist and betrayed the Rangers. Nefarious is first introduced, he protests to being called a mad scientist by Drek, claiming that it implies cognitive impairment, instead insisting that he is a 'vengeful' scientist. After watching this film I'm so glad I did. I'm afraid it didn't keep me interested. This movie takes out even more characters and locations that had been in the game, which itself had already removed characters and locations that had been in the game. Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Nefarious is an expert inventor, and is Drek's chief scientist, having designed the Deplanetizer for him.
