Kristie, educate yourself before hiring anyone. Contractors are not professional tile setters. Hire an expert tile setter and ask all the questions redgard failure they start. Yes, he most certainly has to do that.

I am thinking to use Redgard Waterproofing Membrane before tiling marble tile on the backer board walls. Is this product good in term of water proofing effect and durability? Just want to confirm it before purchasing. Custom Building Products RedGard 1-gal. Is this going in a shower or bath? Redguard is pretty good but I only used it for decks successfully have not used it for showers though. Drypack for the bottom of shower and hot mop. I dont care for hardibacker as much but i have used it when the customer wanted a cheaper option. I have never done a membrane bottom on a shower.
