Outside of Sonic the Hedgehog and his plethora of animated shows, has any video game franchise been adapted into TV and movies more than Resident Evil? It's hard to think of one, what with seven different live-action movies and a handful of animated shows and films. Yet still, our fascination with the world of the games and the horrific Umbrella Corporation responsible for its terrors never sours. Now, with the first live-action TV show adaptation on Netflix, we are getting an entirely new Resident Evil story, though one that feels largely at home in the universe. Netflix's Resident Evil premieres July 14, and after watching the entire first season, it's safe to say that this is one of the "good" video game adaptations that is being bestowed on the world. Like the six-movie series starring Milla Jovovich, it's telling a new story that's not beholden to the events of the games, but with the series' major trappings: namely, zombies and mutant monsters created by an evil pharmaceutical corporation. However, unlike those films, everything that's happened in the video game franchise through 's Resident Evil: Village serves as the backdrop for the story. The show plays out in two separate years: before the zombie-infested apocalypse and well after it. In , the series follows Jade Wesker as she finds herself stranded in the middle of a largely abandoned piece of the world, studying the infected. That story slowly unravels, showing just how bad things have gotten and how the nefarious Umbrella Corporation is at fault for pretty much all of it.

Without giving much away, the events of the Resident Evil games — particularly the Raccoon City outbreak that was the main focus of Resident Evil , as well as Resident Evil 5 especially the ending — do play a key part in the story. However, the series does a great job of condensing the game's big plot points while still telling an original story. Though if you are a huge fan of the franchise, you will be happy to know that Resident Evil does a good job tying itself to the games beyond including a few noteworthy enemy types. The timeline is set entirely in New Raccoon City, built from the ground up beneath the ashes of the original city. But trust me when I say we get more information that makes his current characterization make sense as the show progresses.

Watching the head of this pharmaceutical company, Evelyn Marcus, chase profits while justifying using such dangerous materials, it's easy for us to see the inevitable coming from a mile away. Wesker's character is completely different. Anyway i rest my case and don't want to waste any more time on this super bad series. I feel not one person who wrote for this show played any of the games nor understood who Albert Wekser was. But, the moment I watched this, I found that it's totally different in a bad way. The plot is also insane too. His men shoot up public areas indiscriminately killing anyone and everyone to get to Jade. I really wish they didn't make this. Infinite Darkness. After all, the games and movies are filled with zombies, giant monsters, and plenty of blood and guts to keep things perfectly horrifying. Who cast them, and who finalised them for a show on Netflix.? However, longtime fans may have a bit more difficulty doing that with Albert Wesker. Let's look at Netflix's Resident Evil series.

Now these writers and producers are only utilizing the resident evil name with zero content. The show itself doesn't seem to know which audience it's targeting too. Quite how bad, only time will tell — about 72 hours, in fact, after which the countdown to her transformation into they-know-not-what-they-do begins. I even wanted to kill the main characters, especially, Jade. While it is set after the events of Village, it's not going to be beholden to any of the games to come and ultimately reserves the right to remix little bits of the canon where appropriate. Watching it unfold like this, though, is engaging, if only because the other half of the story is entombed in the aftermath of Umbrella's decisions. I gave the show a chance and it was just so bad that I gave up after about thirty minutes into the first episode. The timeline has some intriguing ideas, particularly when we reach the last two episodes, but getting to those better parts was a slow burn that requires far too much patience in the first six episodes. It's not good. It allows viewers familiar with the franchise to watch them without any preconceived notions of how they should act or what their next steps should be.
