You mean the goofy show about the drunk scientist and his grandson going on space adventures has a complicated canon? Surely, creator Dan Harmon and company would prefer that you watch Rick and Morty as the complete, episodic experience it was intended as.

It's hard to imagine a show as complex, vast, and emotionally raw as Adult Swim's Rick and Morty. Whether it's hearing stories about how smart and hysterical it is or odd stories about Szechuan sauce and catchphrases like "wubba lubba dub dub," there's a lot to jump on board with from the get-go. As a result, it may be tough for newcomers to get into Rick and Morty without bouncing clean off the fandom and subject matter. However, the series is incredibly smart and absolutely hysterical, and it doesn't look like the conversation around Rick and Morty is going away any time soon. If Rick Prime figures out why he was pulled back to his home, C and his family could have big targets on their backs After Rick C had his family killed, he managed to discover interdimensional travel and the Portal Gun for himself and set out across the multiverse to hunt down and kill Weird Rick, killing hundreds? C's campaign made him an enemy of the Council of Ricks, the Galactic Federation, and many others; eventually, Rick settled those wars and built The Citadel of Ricks and its Morty-making systems of genetic manipulation — as well as the Central Finite Curve that ensures Ricks are the smartest ones in their own walled-off section of infinity.

After Rick returned to Earth, he promptly put the battle between the Federation and the Council behind him.

The series follows the misadventures of Rick Sanchez , a cynical mad scientist , and his good-hearted but fretful grandson Morty Smith , who split their time between domestic life and interdimensional adventures that take place across an infinite number of realities, often traveling to other planets and dimensions through portals and on Rick's flying saucer. The general concept of Rick and Morty relies on two conflicting scenarios: domestic family drama and a misanthropic grandfather dragging his grandson into hijinks.
