There's plenty of choice at TK Maxx for those who want top brands and famous designer labels at low prices. In the heart of the Eppendorf, famous for its high prices, and in the Hamburg Meile, there is a shop for bargain hunters. Under the slogan "Be beautiful, stay rich", TK Maxx offers home accessories, beauty products, shoes and fashion for women, men and children from brand manufacturers and designers for up to 60 percent cheaper than the recommended manufacturer price, which are collected by worldwide buyers and mostly even come from current collections. The Eppendorf branch of the international group in the former Karstadt building is a bit confusingly organized and not for people with weak nerves. But with a little patience, a Calvin Klein jeans for fifty or a pair of chic Italian designer boots for a modest hundred euros can be captured.

TJ Maxx is one of America's most iconic retailers. It has 1, stores across the country and is a brand that most people either know of, have seen, or have shopped at before. TK Maxx has a similar standing in the UK, where it has stores. What is less known, however, is that these seemingly identical stores, with matching logos, fonts, and even color schemes, are connected and yet have different names. TJ Maxx, the off-price store concept, was founded in the US in , when its first two stores opened in Auburn and Worcester, Massachusetts. In almost two decades, its parent company, now TJX Companies, expanded across the United States and Canada, opening new stores and acquiring chains under the company umbrella. In , it crossed the Atlantic and set up in the UK and Ireland, where there was — and still is — a discount-department-store chain called TJ Hughes. That retailer currently has 24 locations. TJ Hughes has been around since and was an established department store offering " premium brands at discounted prices" — an offering not too dissimilar from TJ Maxx. It isn't just TJ Maxx that's had to change its name to avoid confusion.
