Mr Phil Marshall Phil. Marshall hull. Wearable GPS tracking devices have become commonplace coaching aids across professional field sports to enhance sports performances and reduce injury rates, despite the implications of the technology being poorly understood. This study looked at how GPS devices are used and the impact constant surveillance has upon the physical, psychological, and emotional health of rugby football workers. The disciplinary analysis of Michel Foucault was used to investigate how British Super League teams use wearable GPS technology, to investigate the dominant 'truth' that promotes surveillance technologies as 'universally beneficial' to athlete sports performance, health and well-being. Participants confessed data generated from wearable GPS is often totally ignored, despite being specifically produced to protect athlete health and wellbeing. When used, GPS data can become a 'disciplinary tool' to normalise and coerce players to comply with potentially unhealthy physical and psychological demands of a professional playing career.

Using a large sample of fund-years, we investigate the performance reporting behaviors of general partners GPs and limited partners LPs of Venture Capital VC funds. Self-reporting by GPs raises the concern that the information investors rely on may be biased, either due to selective reporting from the most successful funds or from overstated performance. Our results indicate that selective reporting is the more important concern: GPs report irregularly and are more likely to report when LPs report good performance. We estimate that selective reporting by GPs overstates VC fund returns by 4 percentage points. We look specifically at the disciplinary role of FOIA in mitigating distortions in reported performance. We find no evidence that FOIA-eligible LPs are disadvantaged in their ability to invest in top-performing funds or funds managed by the most reputable GPs. The review was recommended by the RFL executive in July, five years after a previous club-led review, and partly in response to the impact of changes to charging and sentencing guidelines that were introduced for the season, leading to significant increases in the number of charges and resulting suspensions — all introduced with the priority of player safety. There was also an observation that the changes to charging and sentencing guidelines introduced for had delivered the desired changes in player behaviour. That led to a recommendation for fines to have a greater role, alongside suspensions, in increasing the accountability of players for their on-field actions, given the primary importance of player behaviour in promoting the importance of safety in the sport. This means that a Grade A offence, at the lowest end of the scale, would be punished by either a caution or a fine, whereas it could previously have resulted in a one-match suspension. Similarly, a Grade B offence could also be punishable by either a fine, a one-match suspension, or both, whereas it would previously have meant a ban of either one or two matches. In addition, it will now take three offences for a player to reach the top end of each grading boundary, compared with two offences in Only Grade E and F offences will now lead to an automatic tribunal, with Grade A-D offences included within the penalty notice framework.
