He moved to Los Angeles with his family in to pursue his acting career. Buchanan began his acting career in , making his first appearance on television, playing a child role in the Modern Family series. In , Buchanan made his film debut in the comedy drama film Jake Squared , in which he played the role of Sammy. In , Buchanan played his first main role on television, playing Leo Kirkman in the political drama series Designated Survivor. Almost a year after Season 3 debut of the Netflix smash "Cobra Kai," the anticipation for the return of the acclaimed "The Karate Kid" spinoff series has everyone burning with anticipation, including one of the series' stars, Tanner Buchanan.
