It all began in , when Rodney Fox was savagely attacked by a Great White Shark whilst defending his spear fishing champion title off Aldinga Beach, South Australia. This was the turning point for Rodney. He soon discovered Great Whites were not crazy man-eaters, but fascinatingly cautious creatures. Rodney Fox invented the first ever shark diving cage inspired after a trip to Adelaide Zoo. Soon later, Rodney Fox Sharks Expeditions was born. Rodney believed that the best way to educate people about sharks was by great white shark diving tours on the Neptune Islands, Port Lincoln.

Rodney Winston Fox born 9 November is an Australian film maker, conservationist , survivor of an attack by a great white shark , and one of the world's foremost authorities on that species. On 8 December , whilst participating in the South Australia Spearfishing Championship at Aldinga Beach , Fox was attacked by a great white shark, and badly bitten around the chest and arm. His story of the attack and escape has been published many times. He is regarded as a miracle survivor of one of the world's worst non-fatal shark attacks. In the attack, Fox's abdomen was fully exposed and all his ribs were broken on his left hand side. His diaphragm was punctured, his lung was ripped open, his scapula was pierced, [6] his spleen was uncovered, his artery was exposed, and he was minutes away from his veins collapsing due to the loss of large amounts of blood. His wounds required stitches after the attack.

A special six day live-aboard expedition includes four days of peak great white shark diving, an another day with an Australian sea lion dive or two. Four full days are dedicated to Great White Shark Diving at both the North and South Neptune Islands groups, at the various locations of reef, weed bank, and sand.
