Until 30 minutes ago, I had no idea what I was going to blog about. As I sometimes do, I headed over to my collection in Discogs. Then I got the idea to check and see how many of the Roxy Music compilations did I have in total. The selection of tracks is nothing to argue with. Including the UK. I believe my wife picked this up at a garage sale.

Roxy Music are an English rock band formed in by lead vocalist and principal songwriter Bryan Ferry and bassist Graham Simpson. By the time the band recorded their first album in , Ferry and Simpson were joined by saxophonist and oboist Andy Mackay , guitarist Phil Manzanera , drummer Paul Thompson and synthesizer player Brian Eno. Other members over the years include keyboardist and violinist Eddie Jobson and bassist John Gustafson. The band split in , reformed in and split again in In , Ferry, Mackay, Manzanera and Thompson reunited for a concert tour and have toured together intermittently ever since, most recently in to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their first album. Roxy Music became a successful act in Europe and Australia during the s. This success began with their first album in
It was generally well received by contemporary critics and made it to number 10 in the UK Albums Chart. Brian Eno produced some self-styled "lunacy" when Ferry asked him for a sound "like the moon" for the track " Ladytron ". Several of the album's songs were thematically linked to films. Discussing the music, Andy Mackay later said "we certainly didn't invent eclecticism but we did say and prove that rock 'n' roll could accommodate — well, anything really". The band had been rehearsing and re-working the songs for a couple of months before they finally found a recording place, after which the entire album was recorded in the space of a single week. In May , a few weeks after the recording sessions, a contract was signed with Island Records and in June the album was released.
