A bullseye lantern is highly recommended, as any light source that is not protected will extinguish, and the candle lantern will rarely break, with the candle disappearing, if he retreats within melee range. If you are using an unprotected light source such as a candle , you will need a tinderbox to reignite it. If you have achieved 99 Firemaking , you can also bring the Firemaking Skillcape either equipped or in your inventory, as it will act as a lightsource that cannot extinguish.
