Savage was gifted to Dooku, exemplifying his lack of agency, but continued to serve under Asajj Ventress in order to infiltrate and ultimately assassinate Dooku. It was only after the unsuccessful hit on Count Dooku's life and the consequent belittlement from Ventress that Savage freed himself from her manipulation. This was the first glimmer of hope for Savage, who was finally pursuing his own goals, or so it appeared. Savage's connection to Mother Talzin of the Nightsisters remained and destined him to eternal exploitation for her own needs. Savage was tasked to search for his brother, Sith Lord Darth Maul, who many believed to be dead. The Clone Wars showed why Savage is continuously manipulated and kept chasing after goals that didn't involve his own aspirations or desires. Once a proud tribal leader determined to free himself and his brother, Savage's last moments were heartbreaking to watch.
