One of those updates left the walls in this bedroom soon-to-be nursery looking like this. So the bumps show under the wallpaper. And the bumps interfere with good adhesion , because the paper will stick to the tops of the bumps but not reach all the way down into the recessed areas between the bumps. This does involve extra materials and additional labor , so ups the install price. Distant shot. In this case, though, after discussing, the homeowner and I decided to keep the texture on the wall. For one thing, it saved them money. But also, because this wall texture is so unique, if they ever removed the wallpaper from this one accent wall , the wall would be smooth , compared to the other three walls in the room. With that heavy texture on the wall, I had to press really hard with my smoothing brush , to be sure the paper was adhered not just to the tops of the bumps, but all the way down to the lower areas. This is a thin paper material, and was pretty agreeable to that. I was also pleased that the paper stuck to the wall nicely at the seams, too. I admit that I had anticipated some gaps and void areas at the seams.

Hanging regular wallpaper in is MUCH easier than grasscloth so for any large jobs, I recommend calling in a professional.

Today I am sharing our newly wallpapered and trimmed out Powder Room. I hung the wallpaper, installed the crown molding and the chair rail and painted and accessorized the space myself. As you can see above, to our surprise we found a huge hole in the drywall behind the mirror when we removed the one the builder left us. They have so many gorgeous wallpaper patterns.
