Until recently, Ryan Pengilly worked for Serin Transport in Maddington as a dispatch coordinator, assigning jobs to tow truck drivers who work across a hour day. Mr Pengilly has accused the company, which has up to 60 workers, of underpaying him by engaging him as an independent contractor, rather than an employee. Mr Pengilly said the company told him he was "trouble making" and "not working as a team", and he was sacked earlier this month. He is among a number of workers being helped by the Transport Workers Union, which has accused Serin Transport of engaging in sham contracting.
