However, Kash was actually gay and had an affair with his underage employee Ian Gallagher. Kash became a city councillor in Series 3 , but after falling into financial difficulties and sex scandal he faked his own suicide and left town during Series 4 , leaving Yvonne homeless and in huge debt. Kash returned briefly in Series 6 , only for his son to reject him after finding out the truth of his father's sexuality and how he treated Yvonne.

It is clear that Ian is one of the most beloved characters in Shameless. This is largely because of the fact that his character grows immensely throughout the series. Although there definitely are some major setbacks with his character, it is apparent that his heart of gold remains intact, even at his worst. He also experiences a lot of hardships in the series, so it is easy to root for him throughout the entirety of it. However, even though Ian does experience a lot of turmoil in the series, he thankfully does have a lot of spectacular moments too. These are some of the best parts of the entire series, as fans are always thankful when Ian has positive things happen to him.
