My hope is to breed them to look like the Nippo dogs in Japan. The Shiba is a sturdy little dog and should be investigated thoroughly to see if this is the dog that you want to share your life with. It needs socialization when it is young so it can be an all around family pet even if you will not be showing it. My puppies are raised in the house and socialized every day. The parents have all their health checks and I am available to answer questions long after you get your Shiba home so you will always have a support system.
