Log In Sign Up. Just started playing and i dont see any reason to take light armor over heavy armor late game. If you spec into it, neither armor will restrict your movement speed. Also, neither will make noise at the end of the sneaking tree. Obviously heavy armor is more durable, but is there any advantage light armor will give late game? Maybe better enchants for magic users, or something along those lines? Chape87 - 12 years ago - report. Light Armor is superior in every way. For starters there is a game imposed Armor limit that by most people's level 50 is already more than passed making the Heavy Armor's extra numbers irrelevant. Second of all the Light Armour skill tree takes less perks to complete. Third of all, tiresias says the Heavy Armor's weight perk only affects it's speed and not inventory space Light Armor's come at the faster speed at standard and the weight perk on the Light Armor tree makes it so that any Light Armor you have equipped weighs '0' [Zero] in your inventory. My standard inventory weight when I'm wearing my Armor with Nothing but the Weapons I carry is a mere Light Armor is Superior. Why a player would opt instead for the less protective leather or hide might at first be confusing. Where Heavy Armor focuses on withstanding damage and tanking, Light Armor is more angled towards mobility and stealth. The Light Armor perks themselves are a mixed bag, with some catered more towards speed and stamina management, and others focusing on negating damage when the Dragonborn is hit. Players who choose the Light Armor route still need to be able to protect themselves from angry Cave Bears and Draugr Deathlords. There are three types of gear Skyrim 's Dragonborn can wear: Heavy armor, light armor, and robes. Each is loosely tailored to the classic warrior, mage, and rogue archetypes. In this context, light armor is the ideal choice for a rogue playstyle.

Essential for just about any playthrough, it's well worth keeping track of the best Light Armor, Heavy Armor, and Shields in Skyrim. Generally, your armor of choice will be dependent on your playstyle. Classes which require a decent ability to sneak past enemies, and swiftly escape oncoming attackers will benefit from Light Armor. Those who expect to be getting up close and personal, taking plenty of hits but caring less for the stealthy approach will prefer Heavy Armor. Shields , meanwhile, work as an option for those who prefer Light Armor's benefits, but still want to fight in open melee combat, and thus help to boost the defensive stats of Light Armor wearers, whilst being a tad superfluous for those already wearing a Heavy set. If you are playing the Anniversary Edition, we have explainers on features such as fishing. Before we dive into the specifics of the best sets and individual pieces of kit, there are a couple points to bear in mind:. Heavy Armor is your go-to for duel-wielding berserkers, two-handed tanks, and even battlemages who prefer to avoid the Alteration school's Stoneflesh and Ironflesh spells. Below, we've ranked the best Heavy Armor sets in Skyrim, taking into account not only total defenses but also the sets' weight and their various enchantments and effects. As we've mentioned, Light Armor functions best for sword 'n' shield players, archers, and stealthy players.

Inventory weight is completely untouched by this perk. With light armor, you move slightly faster. I haven't tested yet if the heavy armor perk prevents that. Per page: 15 30 Man I miss the legendary version of skyrim. This is fully upgraded to legendary level and max perks in the respective trees. Not to mention that Nightingale Armor is by far the sweetest looking armor in the game also has really good perks too. Originally posted by casualsailor :. As for the weight, obviously light armors have an edge but worn armors weigh nothing with the appropriate perk. I initiate my battles with a bow but when the bad guys start coming at me, I switch to a Spell-Sword setup.

This article is about the skill. For the physical equipment, see Light Armor item.

In an ideal game engine, an iron blade would be sharp enough to cut leather or fur and thus leather or fur armor would provide little to no protection but weak against steel armor, since steel is stronger than iron. Originally posted by casualsailor :. Now, we do get some light armours from the CC content which does look better, so that's a plus Lockeadon 7 years ago The perk trees give somewhat similar benefits like the armor becoming weightless when wearing a full set, while the remaining perks do not make all that much of a difference when one can have powerful potions and weapons. Also, while you do have to spend your points on two worthless perks, when you get the no encumbrance perk it makes your armor just as light as light armor. Hence, style and aesthetics ultimately matter more when one can min-max a build in several ways in my opinion. Question About Dragon Shouts? Given most people are at armor cap when they get the perk it's more of a novelty than actually helpful. From what i've gathered light armor has a slightly lower armor rating potential but drains less stamina and weighs less.
