First excavations on the eponymous site Vinča — Belo Brdo in the first half of the 20th century yielded almost over figurines alone. In this working paper, I present a unique assemblage of 43 figurines and 11 miniature tool models discovered at the Late Vinca culture site at Crkvine, Stubline in Serbia. The distinctiveness of this find is that it was discovered in it original context, where the figurines were used, and that the objects were found in their original arrangement. The building facades are in graded blues, greens, yellows, oranges and reds, creating a sort of shared DNA for the village. The hot yellows and oranges at the village heart cede to softer greens on the fringe. The brightest colours in our palette come from nature: the neon green of the red-eyed tree frog and reds and yellows of indigenous grevilleas and melaleucas.
