The —24 snooker season is an ongoing professional snooker season with tournaments played between 26 June and 26 May The World Snooker Tour in the —24 season initially involved professional players, but dropped to players. This includes 65 out of the top 68 players from the prize money rankings after the World Championship Zhao Xintong , Yan Bingtao , and Lu Ning were banned from competition after an independent disciplinary tribunal found them guilty of match-fixing , and are not eligible to compete during the season [4] and 34 of the 35 players who earned a two-year card the previous year Bai Langning was also banned from competition due to his involvement in match-fixing. The next four places went to the top four players on the one-year ranking list who had not already qualified for the tour. A further eight places were assigned through the two Q School events. The finalists from both of the Asia-Oceania Q School events received tour cards.

Updated after the Players Championship — won by Mark Allen. The invitational Shanghai Masters is next month with the Wuhan Open and the International Championship — both ranking events — in October and November respectively. The World Open will be held early next year from March 11th to 17th in Yushan, which previously staged the competition for four years from Judd Trump triumphed the last time the event happened in , when the then world champion outplayed Thepchaiya Un-Nooh in the final. There will be 24 players in total invited to take part next month, comprising the current top 16 in the world rankings, the next four highest-ranked Chinese cueists, and four young Chinese wildcards.

The —21 snooker season was a professional snooker season with tournaments played from 13 September to 9 May As a result of the COVID pandemic , the season was played almost entirely without a live audience with only the World Snooker Championship being played in front of a crowd. All snooker tournaments in the season were played in the United Kingdom, due to travel and quarantine restrictions preventing the tour and players from utilising usual venues. Judd Trump won five ranking events during the season, whilst Mark Selby won the World Snooker Championship , to win his fourth world championship. Trump retained the world number one spot throughout the season, also reaching the final of the UK Championship , losing to Neil Robertson. This was the first season in a decade that Ronnie O'Sullivan failed to win a triple crown event; O'Sullivan was defeated in all 5 ranking finals he reached this season, marking the first season since —17 that he had not captured a ranking title. Towards the end of October, World Snooker Tour had announced that the UK Championship would have the first round played at the same arena, but all televised stages would then be played at the York Barbican : on 4 November, days after the UK Government announced a lockdown for all of England, this was then revised to include the entire tournament. Despite space being allocated for back-to-back events in China during March, WST later confirmed on 3 December that all China-based tournaments were cancelled, due to continuing travel restrictions, making it the first season in more than a decade where no tournaments would be staged in Asia.

The inaugural edition of the Wuhan Open , it was the second professional snooker tournament following the invitational Shanghai Masters and the first ranking event held in mainland China since the World Open , due to the impact of the COVID pandemic.
