Tamagotchi gen 3
It was the first Tamagotchi release outside Japan to interact with the now defunct TamaTown. It has more characters than the previously released versions 52 total and offers a password concept similar to the Keitai Kaitsuu Tamagotchi Plus and the Chou Jinsei Enjoi Tamagotchi Plus. It continues to have a black and white LCD screen over a printed background, a cracked egg shell border surrounding the screen, and three rubber buttons. What differentiates the V3 from its predecessors is the addition of a small antenna on the top left of the shell, mimicking a cellphone antenna. This is purely aesthetic, and does not add any additional functionality. TamaTown is a companion website that allowed users to download items and gotchi points to their V3. By entering their username at the login screen, users could explore Tamagotchi Town. Items could be bought from various shops and gotchi points could be earned from playing various games. Other features included flash shorts which could be watched in a movie theater and visiting locations on Earth to collect souvenirs. Upon logging out, the website would give passwords to be entered into the V3 so earned gotchi points and items could be downloaded. The user is presented with two options for feeding: Meal or Snack, with the Treats category from the V2 being disbanded and spread between the two. There are 4 default meals and 4 default snacks. Additional meals and snacks can be purchased at the Shop. Purchasing a food item is only good for one feeding. For more, the user must purchase the item again.
Tier 3 appears when one parent's tier was Normal and the other's was lower than Naughty, tamagotchi gen 3, or if one parent's tier was Naughty and the other's Naughty or Frail.

Generations is a function first introduced on the Mesutchi and Osutchi , and has since become a standard feature as of the Tamagotchi Connection , appearing in almost every release since. It is a factor used primarily to keep track of the Tamagotchi's family history. When a Tamagotchi is started for the first time, it will start from generation one. The generation counter resets if a Tamagotchi dies. Manually resting the entire game resets the counter as well. The game Generation numbers always cap at 99, though the player can raise more than 99 generations. Each generations lasts between five and seven days on average, and the next generations begins after Marriage. The current generation number can be viewed when using the Meter icon. A Tamagotchi's current generation number, depending on whether it's an odd or even number, may determine what characters it is capable of becoming. On the Tamagotchi Connection Version 5 and the Tamagotchi Connection Version 5 Celebrity , when the user chooses to marry their Tamagotchi characters, up to three eggs can be produced, with the exception of marrying Sunnytchi or Jeweltchi , which always produces one egg.
