Taraw Peak in El Nido is up there with my favorite viewpoints in the Philippines. Most people are in El Nido for island hopping, which is amazing but not really an adrenaline rush. In fact, my friend Bryan who is the suggested Taraw Peak guide also works as a tour guide on island-hopping trips so you will definitely be down in time for a quick breakfast before you set off for island hopping in El Nido. From the town and from out on the boats you will see the jagged cliffs that hang over the town. They look dramatic and impossible to climb but there is a route. This is where I met my guide Bryan an hour before sunrise. The hike winds through the neighborhood before you begin the climb up the rocks.

Home » Philippines. Hiking to the top of Taraw Cliff for sunrise is one of the best things to do in El Nido! This one is for thrill-seekers who are not afraid of heights and not afraid to break a sweat, for you will experience both when embarking on the minute hike to Taraw Peak. I have put together this guide including where it is, where to find a guide, and my own experience hiking to the summit of this epic viewpoint for sunrise! Taraw Cliff is located right in the heart of El Nido town. Click here to see the location on Google maps. Having a guide with you for the hike is something I highly recommend because the locals know this mountain like the back of their hands. The trail would not be easy to navigate on your own and having a guide to show you the safest way to the top is imperative. To find a guide, you can ask around some of the tour desks in town to see if there are any guides available. Simply send them a message and organize your adventure preferably a day or two before you plan to hike. I also highly recommend purchasing travel insurance , especially when partaking in such adventures like this in the Philippines. Safety first! We all know accidents can happen and having Heymondo Insurance will save you thousands of dollars if something goes wrong. Heymondo offers low-cost Travel Insurance to keep you covered on all your adventures.

From what I know, the highest point of the cliff is around m above ground level and the knee-jittering drops on either side of the peak sure do prove that. Just wanted to make that clear that there is actually zero chance of falling down if you just enjoy the view and despite the dramatic appearance of the rocks it is quite safe.
