The Barley Merchant is a locally owned and operated establishment located in Langley just north of the th Street the barley merchant at highway one, near The Colossus Movie Theatre. Since opening in July of after a prolonged delay due the pandemic, they have become a popular gathering place for those who embrace drinking local.

On safety —All of our fryers are gluten free. For anything breaded and fried, we use "The Good Flour" which is made from brown rice and tapioca starch. For anyone stating that they are celiac we do a thorough clean of the work space, wash hands and use fresh utensils to build the dish. We are not a gluten free facility though so there is always a small potential risk of exposure but we do our best minimize that every step of the way. So many gluten free options!

Can really feel the love and dedication put into every dish and drink curated at The Barley Merchant. Two stand outs for me are Cheers : More. The burgers were bursting with flavour and so delicious to eat. The Ganging fried chicken sand had the most unique flavours and the bacon cheddar burger did not disappoint. The quality of the food was superb and was excellent value for the money. We did My boyfriend and I stopped in here for dinner and drinks on a Saturday evening. I enjoyed the steak frites which were cooked to perfection and he devoured the Taproom burger. He was impressed by the vast beer selection and thoroughly enjoyed each of the My wine was fantastic and super cool that all of the liquor is BC local!! The atmosphere was top notch - good vibes all around. This is the kind of place you would go to for all the specialty drinks you want not food unless you want appys. Very noisy place, they didn't have the non alcoholic drink I wanted so was served warm tap water with no ice. The description for food items had names that I didn't know so had no idea what to order and settled for the prawns.

Can a vegan person get a good meal at this restaurant? Mostly 20's to 30's crowd.

All dressings, sauces, stocks, soups and dips are made fresh in house, along with our sourdough, gnocchi and desserts. We use in season, BC ingredients whenever possible and strive to use all parts of each product to minimize our food waste. Served with grilled sourdough. Served with ginger lime soy mayo. All burgers and sandwiches are served with fries. Sub in soup, salad or yam fries for.

We focus on offering local, small batch beer, brewed fresh in communities around BC using traditional methods. Beer made with care by independent owners that are often friends and families who have followed their passion on a quest to create something delicious for all of us to ex-BEER-ience. We follow the same philosophy as we curate our list of ciders, spirits, wine and food menus. In our first year of operation, we tapped. With BC now having more than craft breweries, all of which are brewing multiple core beer styles, coupled with a steady stream of new releases, the options are becoming limitless.
