One of the things that we really wanted to experience on our trip to Walt Disney World was Disney Springs and in particular some of its most popular restaurants for families, the boathouse reviews. Disney Springs pelican sinema home to so many restaurants and it can be hard to decide where to eat out, but we are so glad that The Boathouse restaurant was highly recommended to us before our trip.

First of all, as I mentioned above, this is a seafood restaurant. And as you may have guessed, that means you can expect quite a bit of nautical decor. Each of the dining spaces is decorated with fun little fish-themed and boat-themed tchotchkes and trinkets. I found myself looking around the room and just taking it all in multiple times. When I was led to my table, I noticed that each table is set with cloth napkins, silverware, glasses, and a cloth tablecloth. Outside, the tables on the patios that wrap around the restaurant literally seat hundreds of people.

As a 2-credit Signature Restaurant, the Boathouse is a poor use of a counter service credit if you are looking to Maximize Value on the Disney Dining Plan. Beyond this, the Boathouse has taken its fair share of criticism from a Disney blogging corps with insufficient material to cover and excessive snark. We also latched onto an sample menu that leaked out, and some of the seemingly absurd prices on it. Add to that steep pricing, short duration, and seating for only 3?! Of course, all would be forgiven if the ambiance and food measured up…. We finally headed to the Boathouse a few months after it opened after hearing feedback from several friends that the food did, in fact, measure up. On our first visit, we arrived at the restaurant just before 11 p. She happily informed us that it was, and that we had plenty of time. The clear attitudes of all of the restaurant staff were that we were fine to take our time. Both times, our service has been impeccable. The restaurant has a fleet of classic watercraft that not only give it a retro-inspired charm and vibe, but also cost a lot of money. Beyond the amphicars, there are water taxi and other boats, almost all of which are exotic in appearance. The most pervasive feeling is one of trendiness, and this mostly works well but there are places where it feels a bit much.

Before we get to the meals we chose from the menu, I really need to mention the Boathouse house bread that is brought to the table to enjoy as you browse the menu. For one of the most popular restaurants in Disney Springs I thought that the prices were reasonable and our dinner experience was excellent with very attentive staff.

It was disappointing to have tables so close to us with multiple new borns, infants and tots sitting just feet away. Their mac and cheese in particular was so tasty, but if we knew the size of the mains before we ordered them we would have skipped the sides. The main menu with the raw bar, appetizers, and entrees is covered in pretty much every kind of seafood that you can think of. I really loved this sauce and thought it paired excellently with the fries. The girls chose the chicken tenders and fries for mains which was served in a fun Boathouse amphicar. Lots of outdoor seating here! It was expensive for a burger relative to other table service restaurants at Walt Disney World, but I felt that was justified by the lively and full flavor, and quality of ingredients. They have fish, lobster, pasta, shrimp, burgers, sandwiches, and more. It was primarily lump crab meat, with the flavor of the crab mostly speaking for itself a wise decision by the chef, as the crab was excellent.
