Redirecting monsters: You can force monsters to go a certain way or direction as they try to shake you off. This opens up additional strategic options like, say, guiding a Diablos toward a special wall to get its horns stuck or any large monster toward a trap to hold it in place. Maybe I'm missing something, but for me it's been VERY inconsistent whether attempting to redirect monsters or flinch them forward actually makes it happen. I haven't seen any connections between successes or failures that make it so I can know ahead of time whether either thing will actually work. Not blaming the game for this yet , but idk if it's MEANT to be inconsistent or if I'm misunderstanding the mechanics, though they seem straightforward. I've seen someone with a GreatSword use the claw to recover with a special animation when sent flying by an attack, but I have no idea how he did that.

With this technique you can run around them whilst keeping the camera locked on them at the same time so that you can see what they are doing. Otherwise your camera will end up pointing off in some other direction because you can't use both the dpad and analogue stick with just your thumb. Its just the most effective way to play the game. I've seen some new psp's with the dpad and analogue horizontally aligned rather than vertically, looks tricky to use for this game. Anyone here tried it?
I dislike it when it first came out, the wounded monster part timer is way too short for my taste.

I tried to look it up but found nothing relevant, anyone knows anything about this? Not a huge fan tbh, feels a bit cheap. But it's better than wyvern riding in Rise, that's at least at the point of writing this pretty broken. Adding that thing to the game was unnecessary, imo.

If done enough time, the Claw Attack will soften a monster's hide wound that part.
