First things first: Contrary to what you might expect from some of the reviews attached to this title, this is not an edition of Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale. In the days of anarchy, it was freedom to. He receives the message that his next incarnation on Earth will be a young Catholic girl raped by a priest. This ruins the foundation of The Handmaid's Tale because most American fundies would balk at this world. I enjoyed it! Quiet, rich, the drama just bubbling under the surface of the prose. As the reader experiences the story from the perspective of a mother, this story has the added complexity of nurturing relationships turned horribly askew. Yes the daughter of the man that said that Holocaust did not exist. However, it is also a fully independent and creative work, an English teacher's dream in its richness. What you don't know won't tempt you. Margaret Atwood is a great writer and her books are always enjoyable. I recommed this to everyone and I can't wait to read more of Atwood's books.
