Transformers: Dark of the Moon is a American science fiction action film based on Hasbro 's Transformers toy line. The film is the third installment in the Transformers film series and the sequel to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen The film is directed by Michael Bay and written by Ehren Kruger. Optimus Prime , Bumblebee , and Sam Witwicky must lead the Autobots against Megatron and the Decepticons as they battle to possess powerful technology abandoned on the Moon , in order to restore Cybertron. The film employed both regular 35 mm film cameras and specially-developed 3D cameras, with filming locations in Chicago , Florida , Indiana , Milwaukee , Moscow, and Washington, D. The film was 3D rendered specifically for 3-D, and the visual effects involved more complex robots which took longer to render.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is the third film in the live-action film series. The film is set three years after the events of Revenge of the Fallen. The Autobots continue to work for NEST, but no longer in secret, and for the goal of keeping peace between humans by taking out volatile overseas political targets. But after discovering a strange artifact during a mission in Chernobyl, it becomes apparent to Optimus Prime that the United States government has been less than forthright with them. In the distant past, during the later days of the Cybertronian civil war, Sentinel Prime attempted to leave the planet with groundbreaking technology on board the Ark. However, his ship was shot down by the Decepticons and, after being sent hurling through space for a while, eventually crashed on the Earth 's moon in Landing on the Moon as part of the Apollo 11 mission in , astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin use several minutes of radio silence to investigate the spaceship and discover that Mankind is not alone in space. They have also begun to help humanity in its local conflicts, as Bumblebee , Sideswipe , Que , and Dino destroy an illegal Iranian nuclear facility. Lennox , Optimus Prime and Ratchet discovers an unknown alien fuel cell which had led to the Chernobyl disaster. While trying to secure the cell, they are attacked by the Decepticon Shockwave and his "pet", the Driller , who are eventually forced to retreat by Optimus Prime.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is an action-adventure video game based on the film of the same name. It is the sequel to 's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen , and the third video game adaptation of the live-action Transformers film series. Unlike the first two games, Dark of the Moon follows an original story, set before the events of the film it is based on, and features only one campaign, which alternates between the Autobots and the Decepticons. The game, like its predecessors, is mostly a third-person shooter and has players fight various types of AI enemies in both single-player and multiplayer modes. Unlike its predecessors, Dark of the Moon features a single linear campaign rather than one for each faction, with players changing between the Autobots' and the Decepticons' perspective between levels.

The series exists to show gigantic and hideous robots hammering one another. So it does. The last hour involves a battle for the universe which for some reason is held at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive in Chicago. This battle is protracted mercilessly beyond all reason, at an ear-shattering sound level, with incomprehensible Autobots and Decepticons sliced up into spurts of action with no sense of the space they occupy. There is more of a plot this time. It is a plot that cannot be described in terms of structure, more in terms of duration.
