The alien race has been expanded so much that eleven Otsutsuki members have been revealed, with more expected to be introduced in the series. The series has slowly yet steadily revealed much about this god-like clan , and piecing this information together can unveil their goals and motives, along with their otherworldly origins. Despite the series revealing in-depth details about the Otsutsuki, one detail that has been constantly left out is of their origins.

The Otsutsuki Clan is the strongest of all clans in the Naruto series. Home to parasitic aliens who come from another planet, the Otsutsuki clan sees all its members go from planet to planet to consume all life and get stronger in the process. By consuming new life forms, they continuously update themselves. As genetically advanced beings, the Otsutsuki have multiple Kekkei Genkai at their disposal and are quite capable of achieving fearsome feats like destroying planets. Some can even defeat people even as strong as Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha. Of the Otsutsuki, though, some are definitely stronger than others. Known to be alien parasites, these beings have become very important in the overarching plot of the story since the Fourth Great Ninja War. After Kaguya Otsutsuki was introduced as the main villain of Naruto, the writers of the story have thrown a lot of focus on this clan. The vast majority of the story of Boruto is focused around this clan and its many members. Although this list already goes over the Otsutsuki clan , there have been major revelations in Boruto regarding this clan and their gods and, as such, this list has been updated accordingly. However, the creation of Shinobi, or indeed humans being able to use chakra at all, is something that was never intended by these initial Precursors. The Ohtsutsuki Clan's existence on Earth began over a thousand years ago and it is unknown when and where they were born. The enigmatic nature of the clan's existence is so closely guarded that it is to the point that the databook simply describes them being "from another world". In addition to being the ancestors of the Senju, Uzumaki, Uchiha, Hyuga, and Kaguya clans, who inherited unique abilities that made them powerful forces in the modern world of Naruto , they are also behind the distribution of Chakra to all individuals. Over a millennium ago the Ohtsutsuki Clan members Isshiki and Kaguya Ohtsutsuki appeared on the Earth with the goal of eventually harvesting the Chakra Fruit produced by the Divine Tree and with it over time devour the life force of the planet to sustain their own immortal lives. When Kaguya Ohtsutsuki arrived, she betrayed Isshiki and left him for dead, and eventually matured the Divine Tree, ate the Chakra Fruit as she had intended to do from the start, and became the first chakra user on Earth in the process defying her clan by taking all the power for herself. Using the power gained from eating the Chakra Fruit, she cast the first Infinite Tsukuyomi, which would turn everyone into White Zetsus to serve as soldiers for her when her clan would eventually pursue to punish her.

Centuries later, he became the leader of Kara as Jigen in order to continue to carry out his original plan, as well as secure a new, better vessel in Kawaki. A thousand years ago, Isshiki came to Earth alongside Kaguya with the objective to plant a Tree to harvest its Chakra Fruit. While Kaguya, being lower-ranked, was planned to be sacrificed to create the Chakra Fruit, she instead turned on Isshiki, leaving him on the verge of death after destroying Isshiki's lower half. Upon the formation of Kara, Isshiki through Jigen became its leader and acquired a new Ten-Tails seedling ; the Inners collectively agreed on obtaining the Chakra fruit [1] by cultivating a new God Tree huge enough to devour all life on Earth. Eventually, Isshiki found Kawaki; after Delta tested the boy's blood as a viable candidate to be a vessel in the anime. After taking custody of the boy, Isshiki introduced Jigen as his new father and reassured him.
