A tornado warning has been issued for a large part of the United Kingdom as winds of up to 60mph are set to batter Britain, while the Met Office has issued a fresh yellow weather warning for rain. It says there could be "isolated" and "brief tornados". It comes as the Met Office has also issued a number of yellow weather warnings for southern England and parts of Wales. A rain warning covers most of south west England and Wales between 11am and 4pm on Thursday. A third warning, for wind, will cover large parts of the south east including Essex, London, and Hampshire. It says there could be hail and lightning as well as the winds and tornados.
