However, their dreams are shattered upon entering New York airport's immigration area, where they are subjected to a psychologically grueling interrogation in the secondary inspection room. The plot concerns the unpleasant vetting and questioning procedures that the couple Diego a Venezuelan urbanist and Elena a contemporary dancer from Barcelona suffers at the Newark Airport upon moving from Barcelona to the United States to start off a new life. Jonathan Holland of ScreenDaily considered that the film "plays out in that grey zone where legitimate questioning ends and the state torture manual begins", pointing out how generating "so much drama from what is basically 74 minutes of people talking across a table at one another is very clever film making indeed". There are moments throughout this film that disarmed me and then would worry me, as I was caught up in the same questioning techniques, feeling trapped in the same small room as this film's heroes. An interrogation room always arouses tension and nervousness in those being interrogated, but the suspense is even greater if it is located in the immigration zone of the United States. Is it that the immigration system is stupid and should have just let them in and perhaps should just let anyone in without asking questions?
