Via rail reviews
I took a weekend trip to Ottawa and decided to take the train back so this is a recap of my first time using a Canadian train company, VIA Rail Canada, via rail reviews, on a trip between those two cities.
At Landsby, we have sent many people on this trip and we love hearing their feedback. We know that overnight train travel is not for everyone so honest client reviews make it easier for us to help potential travellers figure out if this is for them. We received this wonderfully detailed review from Wendy Whitehead who recently travelled from Toronto to Vancouver aboard the Canadian with her husband and mother and we wanted to share it with all of you. Firstly, booking our trip with Landsby was a winner. Aurelie and her team were great sources of information and at hand to answer any questions. The trip was memorable and has wetted our appetite for train travel.

This will not bear any additional cost to you whatsoever. The Dome Cars are excellent, with great picture and viewing opportunities. If you are leaving home for a short while and prefer not to bring your pet along and have your home more secure while away, be sure to visit TrustedHousesitters. Interested in becoming a Pet Sitter? Definitely one of the highlights of the trip, was experiencing the amazing meals prepared by their chefs on board. All meals were superb and beautifully presented. Dining car staff were outstanding, always making sure you had everything you needed throughout each meal. Above, is just a sample of what we enjoyed for lunch. Absolutely delicious and beautifully presented! If you can treat and pamper yourself to sleeper class for this overnight trip, I would certainly recommend you do so. Our assigned cabin was very comfortable for our journey. What a wonderful job they have done to this station! As expected and because of the time of year we were traveling, these lounges can get extremely busy. The staff member present was always very pleasant with passengers and eager to assist any way he could. On board in this business class cabin, we were served a; full breakfast along with coffee, tea and juice.
It winds through the mountain range in the middle of Honshu. Interestingly enough, via rail reviews, the second train I took did not have any tray tables, so just napped on the way back. Pin
I've spent more than hours on trains in the last two years, from hour overnight rides to quick three-hour journeys. Along the way, I've tried out a wide range of seating options, from business and first classes to shared bunks and private rooms. It was my first time using Via Rail, and I was surprised by all the offerings of business class, from comfy seats to snacks and meals. It was the best experience I've ever had on an overnight train. We originally published this post back in the summer of , when our boys were still quite young. Riding the overnight train is a memorable way to experience the majestic Canadian Rockies. I often wonder how people from around the world view Canada as a travel destination. I think I have a general understanding, however I enjoy learning about our home country through the eyes of first time visitors. Walter and his wife Sharon were enjoying a complimentary glass of sparkling wine in the observation car as the train slowly pushed out of the Vancouver train station. Most of the guests on this train were from western Europe or the southern United States. The majority were taking the overnight train from Vancouver to Jasper and a few were taking the train across Canada to either Toronto or Montreal. I was reminded of our trip to Europe a few summers ago , when we traveled through Germany, France and Switzerland by train. I remember how exciting it was to be overseas experiencing Europe by train. I imagine our travel companions felt the same way about this train experience through western Canada.

The Canadian promised a scenic ride through the Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia provinces over the course of four days. We made seven stops along the way at stations throughout the provinces. The site also says there's limited cell service, which means my data plan was basically useless and my phone was only good for taking photos. I wanted to make sure I had something to watch before falling asleep and for when I got bored during the long stretches of the trip. My cabin was in the Sleeper Plus section of the train a subsect of business class , which meant I had a private room with two comfortable seats that folded down at night to make room for the bed. The Sleeper Plus ticket I had included all onboard meals. This trip was much more social than I had anticipated. When we first pulled out of Toronto, everyone gathered on the upper deck of the Skyline car, where the roof is mostly windows.

Goes around Lac Leman and you get stunning Alpine views over the lake. My business-class ticket came with priority boarding, so I was able to skip a long line of passengers. These guys and girls know how to cook! Notify me of new posts by email. Instagram Facebook-f Linkedin Twitter. Would love to hear your recommendations on Amtrack trips in the states. Lunch was another business-class perk, which I hoped for since the ride was six hours long. It is a great stop to really walk around and enjoy a coffee. It becomes a great place to meet people who are travelling and many conversations were had and interesting thoughts and ideas for future travel. Most certainly one of the reasons for taking the train across Canada, is to experience the spectacular scenery along the way. I felt like I was on the Hogwarts Express or something.
Travelling across Canada by train has long been on my bucket list. What better way to experience just how big and diverse my home country is than slowly by train?
The seats reclined, too, just like in the US. This experience, although affordable in economy class, is not cheap if you want any sort of comfort. I would say about fifty per cent of the group were train travellers and they gave great insight on other train trips around the world. This includes wheel levelling and grinding down any rough edges to provide the smoothest trip possible. We received this wonderfully detailed review from Wendy Whitehead who recently travelled from Toronto to Vancouver aboard the Canadian with her husband and mother and we wanted to share it with all of you. The windows are curved so you get a reflection. Then it was time for breakfast. It actually became a running joke with all of us. Meal service on this Canadian train review, although a bit confusing at first, get people fed in an efficient way. There are activities onboard each day and include educational talks and performances by musicians. I found that trains abroad are more comfortable. More advertising in Canada would be really helpful.
