I've noticed that when it rains or snows my check engine and VTM-4 light comes on. In about a day or so they both will go away? What could this be??? Rowefast answered 7 years ago. If this is a problem developing a code would be stored in the computer. I would say go to like Auto Zone to have it checked for codes. If there is a code, then you would know what to look at to fix the problem.

The pilot of this vintage I got to play with would also trigger the vtm light with the check engine light. In my case it was EGR misfire related. I think it's just a programming goof. The Honda Pilot's all-wheel-drive system is pretty clever, with variable torque distribution between its front and rear axles, as well as between the left- and right rear wheels. It generally works well and ensures strong traction on difficult roads - but some issues have been reported over the years. Their modes of operation are very similar, though, with the newer i-VTM4 essentially just adding more intelligence to the rear-axle torque distribution algorithms for improved agility and better stability in extreme driving conditions. But what if something goes wrong? First, let's look at what VTM-4 is. However, it's important to note that there is a clear distinction between the gauge-display-mounted VTM-4 or i-VTM4 warning light, and the confirmation light inside the dashboard-mounted VTM-4 switch, to the left of the audio system.

While these lights can sometimes be benign, they often indicate that something is wrong with your vehicle. When this light comes on, it is essential to have the vehicle checked by a qualified technician as soon as possible. Sometimes, engine code may turn itself off as well. This system is designed to help improve traction and stability while driving on slippery or uneven surfaces. When the VTM-4 light is illuminated, the system is working to keep the vehicle stable and prevent it from slipping or sliding. In some cases, it may also indicate a problem with the traction control system. Low engine oil level or quality can trigger both the lights at once. The engine oil dipstick is usually located near the front of the engine, and it has a circular loop at the end. Next, put it back into the dipstick tube and remove it again.

I couldn't go faster than 10 miles and hour, it wouldn't let me. I turned it off and back on and was able to drive a few feet and it did it again. Its like the vtm-4 is kicking in automatically.

The issue may not be related to VTM First, let's look at what VTM-4 is. Car occasionally smells like burning oil and losing power although dealerships said engine was clean. Guru8KQNV answered 4 years ago. It could be something simple like emissions code because your catalytic converter is just slightly plugged doesn't need to be addressed for a long time , to something more serious like a misfire that could lead to engine damage. All times are GMT Hi I have a 04 Honda pilot and my check engine light came on and my vtm4 and it makes a cracking sound when I drive it what does that mean. The cure for an illuminated VTM-4 warning light varies depending on the problem that triggered the light in the first place. I've gone online to view this 02 Sensor. I said no way! Yesterday I changed the spark plugs and today the VTM-4 light came on while I was driving in the highway. Second- and third-generation Pilots and model years, respectively share these possible causes but add the possibility that there may be engine- or emission-control problems, in which case the AWD system will automatically disengage and switch the warning light on. According to the owner's manual, a flashing VTM-4 warning light on a Honda Pilot means that you should immediately pull over, slot the transmission into Park, and let the engine idle until the VTM-4 light stops flashing. I really appreciate your help! The VTM-4 warning light in the Honda Pilot's instrument cluster should only illuminate when starting up the engine, following which it should extinguish within a second or so. My impression is that several systems work together and a problem in one system can cause another to misbehave also. Know more, shop wisely Search.
