Well, today there was an injustice committed on one of my running mates and I am writing about it! I thought that by sharing the story I would in some way bring light to the injustice, offer some support, and help restore balance to the universe. We are a group of about 25 — 30 women running through the streets of London. We try to be very respectful of motorists, bicyclists and walkers. As we ran through Little Venice remember my article this week about the area with canals some of the gals were on the sidewalk and a few were on the street by the edge of the sidewalk. Unfortunately, I did not eye witness the event. I only heard the aftermath sounds. All of sudden we heard a bicycle bell ring. Typically we make way for the passing bicycles. And then all of sudden the bicycle rider punched one of my friends, who had remained on the edge of the street, out of her way. There was ample space and time to react in. I suddenly heard a gasp from the group as my friend recovered and yelled a retaliating comment to the bicycle rider.

The witch's most popular depiction was in the classic film based on Baum's novel, where she was portrayed by Margaret Hamilton. Hamilton's characterization introduced green skin and this has been continued in later literary and dramatic representations, including Gregory Maguire 's revisionist Oz novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West and its musical stage adaptation Wicked , the film Oz the Great and Powerful , and the television series Once Upon a Time. Her castle is described as beautiful instead of being the sinister fortress shown in the film. In all versions, she is aquaphobic. Frank Baum's Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz. She shows no interest in the death of the Eastern Witch and all she cares about is obtaining the Silver Shoes which will increase her power. Denslow 's illustrations for The Wonderful Wizard of Oz depict her as a paunched old hag with three pigtails and an eyepatch. Baum himself specified that she only had one eye, but that it "was as powerful as a telescope", enabling the witch to see what was happening in her kingdom from her castle windows.
