Tiny hallway? A coat rack can easily declutter entryways and keeps clothes, jackets and hats easy to grab on the go. You can also pair them with a shoe rack to keep your hallway tidy.
The small but mighty coat rack can transform your daily routine, keeping gear accessible and organized, while also offering an opportunity to give your entryway a dose of personality. Of the 15 we tested, these models passed our rigorous strength and functionality tests and stood out for their unique style. Our picks include a compact six-hook rack , a big steel rack , a simple Shaker peg rack , the iconic Eames coat rack and a replica , a sleek wood option , and two freestanding coat racks. We considered only coat racks that we thought were simultaneously beautiful and functional. We made sure they were easy to assemble and could be installed by a single person, were sturdy enough not to bend or break, and had well-spaced hooks and a good layout to accommodate coats and accessories.

Looking for an easy weekend woodworking project? Check out the DIY wall coat rack we recently made. Hey all! I also tried to keep the tools for this one minimal so that more people can do the project. We had two smaller wall-mounted racks with hooks that slid back and forth. When one of the hooks broke a few weeks ago, I knew I had to get on this project. So I decided to make a simple popular coat rack with 7 double hooks. The double hooks would allow us to hang smaller things like hats or scarves underneath the coats. Or things we use less like umbrellas. Affiliate links below; read more about those here. If you like this project, check out my DIY wooden key rack , my simple DIY midcentury plant stand with hairpin legs, my shoe cubby build plans , and my easy DIY monitor stand. First I cut each piece of poplar down to be exactly the same length, about 48 inches. Then I thoroughly sanded each piece using my orbital sander and a grit sanding disc. Then I polished the edges by hand using grit sandpaper.
Thanks to its large, heavy base, it felt sturdier than the other coat tree we recommend, the Yamazakiwhich was lighter and smaller. Read my full Terms of Use here.
