The QRM Eliminator is based on a totally innovative concept and cannot be compared to the performance of noise blanker or DSP circuits. Removing the noise before it gets to the receiver is the superior method of interference reduction. The QRM Eliminator is inserted into the feedline from the trx to the antenna without any additional modifications required to the radio. The box has a built-in PTT control which enables the Eliminator to stay connected during transmit. An additional auxiliary receiving antenna is required, though, like a 2m antenna or simply a couple of meters wire in the shack. The unwanted signal is received with both antennas resulting in different phases.

I found out that the antenna for receiving QRM, the auxiliary or secondary antenna, holds the key to optimum performance of the QRM eliminator. A single wire along a shelf in your shack is, for what I tested, not enough. There is one specific antenna that does an amazing job. First of all I need to explain about my antenna setup. My main antenna was a 13m 31 ft tall vertical. This antenna setup allows me to work on all HF bands. The downside… it picks up loads of man-made noise. The QRM eliminator manual says that a single wire in your shack can do the job. That being said, I ran a 4 meter 17 ft wire across the edge of the ceiling as an auxiliary antenna. It could perform better than this. The QRM eliminator enables you to adjust the signal levels on both the main and aux antenna. When at the same level, the signal from the aux antenna will cancel out the signal from the main antenna as you adjust the phase angle. Presuming that bringing the aux antenne outside the shack, would increase its signal level.

The site will be something of which everyone involved can be proud to say they were a part. Increase the bandwith so it produces enough signal on all HF bands. That being said, I ran a 4 meter 17 ft wire across the edge of the ceiling as an auxiliary antenna.

If you live in the city or close to industrial facilities, you probably have high RF-noise level on your HF radio receiver from local sources that causes interference and difficulties in receiving weak radio signals. The solution is either to go out of city, in rural area far from RF-noise sources or to try this practical device and reduce or eliminate the local noise. It really helps so that you can listen many more DX stations that are hiden in the ocean of noise. The QRM Eliminator is inserted between transceiver and the antenna without any additional modifications to the radio. An additional auxiliary receiving antenna is required. It can be simply a few meters wire in the shak or outside. The unwanted signal is received with both antennas.

Very easy to adjust - very coarse adjustments - extremely effective without needing much skill to operate - better results than DNR could ever hope for.

The QRM Eliminator now allows to adjust the phase angle as well as amplification in a way to cancel out the unwanted signal before it reaches the receiver front end! I had once owned an MFJ noise cancelling product and never could get it to work. The QRM Eliminator is inserted between transceiver and the antenna without any additional modifications to the radio. It takes a bit of practice but once you get it figured out it is a breeze. BTW, this is a kit. I could double the length of the whip to cover the longer wavelengths, but that would negatively affect the shorter wavelengths bands To get maximum performance on all HF bands, I needed to: Increase the overall signal level from the aux antenna. The circuit employed is similar to the others and identical to Wimo. Maybe not as nice as the newest transceivers, surely it is "useful to have". This can detract from trust by current and potential customers. It's based on a totally innovative concept and cannot be compared to the normal 'noise blanker' performance. The eHam. I left an electric drill running. It turned out that the dipole produced indeed more signal, so I was able to cancel out more of the QRM. I purchased this unit from ebay and it arrived in very quick time. One of the antennas I wanted to experiment with, was a Miniwhip.

If you see figures regarding solar activity, you could conclude that we are very close to the start of a new solar cycle.

IMHO I find ridiculous to buy expensive transceivers with DNR and other amenities that do not have such a simple circuit and three additional knobs! Only downside of the Miniwhip is that on 10 meter band it performs not as good as other bands. On 40 meter, 60 meter and 80 meter, I am able to cancel out much more QRM. When turned off, the main antenna is directly connected to your radio, you can transmit through the unit. Reviewers should be able to share their product opinion without being publicly criticized. This gave me S9 of noise on 20mtrs. I have seen assembled units from Ukraine having the RF-sensing and other changes to this design. The two antennas received unwanted signals, resulting in different phases. A week later, I received the PCB and power insert. When the minimum of the local noise is found, it has to be nearly or totally gone, and DX signals can be heared. The schematic is similar to the MFJ I have but are not the same. Apart from the obviously home-made control labels, the device is well constructed. Thus, the "Main" jack must be connected main operating antenna or PA input. Increase the bandwith so it produces enough signal on all HF bands. AI7R Rating: Oh my this is amazing!!
